Hong Kong

The teacher training team spent the day in HK sightseeing. Some of us got to see our friend, Julie Hui, an HU TESOL masters degree grad from Hong Kong.

Bill got to hang out with the girls today. He was a trooper!

Zhongshan Last Day

The team had dinner with our host, Terry Zhang and Dr. Choi. Luke sent the teaching team off to Hong Kong Friday night, and he will stay with the remaining HU students for the Zhuhai Camp.

3rd Week Fun!

This week, we have been teaching at local English learning centers! Our hosts at our sites have been very gracious & kind to us. Miss Candy's daughter is the most precious little girl. She loves to dance & sing to American songs! - Hannah

Middle School pics from last week.

David and I taught 22-29 9 to 14 year olds. The morning group was less cooperative than the afternoon group (but that one was also bigger; go figure!).  There were some very capable students but many whose basic understanding and vocabulary was almost nonexistent so it was rough.  They did like to sing so I taught them a new song every day and of course, then reviewed it.  We spent time on worksheets, story telling (Fa Mulan and Marco Polo mostly) and games.  We viewed segments of Planet Earth (or whatever; the BBC series) and they saw lots of animals to identify. - Bill

Six worked at this site: Alyssa, Meghan, Davan, R.J., David, and Bill.  David and Bill worked with kids (9-14); RJ and Davan with primary students (5-6) and Alyssa and Meghan with kindergarten (typically 4 and 5 year-olds).

An Afternoon in the Park

The primary teachers had an afternoon outing at a local park. We went bicycling together. It was great fun. We cooled off with some green bean popsicles when we were done. We rode 12 kilometers! - Audrey
